FAQs
Here are some answers to questions you might have:
Who will be doing the work?
You’ll work directly with Katie— which means you get access to ~15 years of marketing experience at B2B tech companies ranging from early-stage startups to enterprise leaders. Depending on the project scope, I may bring in specialized experts to ensure we deliver the highest quality work, fast. These are always folks I have worked with and/or hired before and all work will go directly through me.
Why should I work with you over an agency or hiring in-house?
Unlike agencies that assign junior team members to your account, you work directly with a senior product marketing strategist who’s been in your shoes. I’ve built go-to-market strategies from scratch, launched products that generated millions in revenue, and know exactly what works (and what doesn’t) in B2B tech. You get enterprise-level expertise without the overhead, politics, or lengthy onboarding that comes with agencies or full-time hires.
Why do you charge on a project basis instead of monthly retainers?
Project-based pricing gives you predictable costs and clear deliverables upfront. Most product marketing challenges — like messaging, positioning, or launch strategy — are objectives that need focused solutions, not ongoing maintenance. This approach lets you invest in high-impact work without the commitment of a long-term retainer, and you can always come back for additional projects as your needs evolve. I do offer a retainer if our needs align; I just prefer projects as I think it’s a fairer exchange for both sides.
How quickly can you start, and what’s your typical timeline?
I typically start new projects within 1-3 weeks, depending on current client commitments. Most strategic projects (messaging, positioning, go-to-market strategy) take 4-8 weeks, while tactical projects (competitive analysis, sales enablement) can be completed in 2-4 weeks. I’ll give you exact timelines during our initial consultation based on your specific needs and urgency.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Yes, I prefer to work with B2B tech companies that have already achieved product-market fit (Series A-C) and are looking to scale their go-to-market motion; however, I do have very early-stage startup experience. No matter what stage you’re at, if you need help articulating your positioning or expanding to new markets, let’s talk.
How do you measure success?
Success looks different for every project, but common metrics include improved win rates, shorter sales cycles, higher-quality leads, clearer sales conversations, and stronger competitive differentiation. During our initial consultation, we’ll define specific success criteria based on your business goals and current challenges.
Can you help us with competitor analysis?
Absolutely. Competitive intelligence is a core part of most product marketing projects. I’ll map your competitive landscape, identify positioning gaps, analyze their messaging and pricing strategies, and help you develop battle cards and competitive differentiation strategies that give your sales team confidence in every deal.
Do you sign NDAs?
Of course. The work we do together will involve sensitive business information, and I’m happy to sign any reasonable NDA before we begin. I’ve worked with companies across every industry and understand the importance of confidentiality.
Do you work with remote/distributed teams?
Absolutely. Most of my clients have distributed teams, and I’m set up to collaborate seamlessly across time zones. I use async communication effectively and can facilitate workshops and strategy sessions virtually. Some of my best work has been done with fully remote teams who value clear documentation and structured processes.
Can you help with sales enablement?
Yes — but I approach it from a product marketing perspective, not a sales training one. I create battle cards, competitive positioning, objection handling frameworks, and messaging that helps sales teams have better conversations. I don’t do CRM setup or sales process optimization, but I make sure your sales team can articulate your value proposition clearly and confidently.
What if our product is highly technical?
Perfect. I thrive on complex, technical products that are hard to explain. I have experience with API platforms, infrastructure tools, developer products, and enterprise software with long feature lists. My job is to translate technical capabilities into business value that your buyers care about.
Do you help with pricing strategy?
I can help with pricing positioning and packaging — how you present your pricing to the market and structure your tiers. I don’t do pricing optimization or economic modeling, but I can help you position your pricing in a way that supports your value proposition and competitive differentiation.
What don’t you do?
Brand design, technical website development, paid advertising, technical SEO, PR, events, social media, or day-to-day marketing operations.
However: I have a network of amazing specialists across every marketing discipline and often work as part of curated teams. Think strategy from me, best-in-class execution from trusted partners.
